Because of recent extreme cold weather, they face depression, frostbite, and even death. What if there was a way to fix this? We introduce: Heated Hotspots.
Together with local councils, Shelter wants to create temporary hotspots on the street where homeless people can keep warm in the winter. We will use Pavegen’s kinetic tile technology, which converts people’s footsteps into electricity. Their technology is already being used worldwide to store and power street lights.
By transforming high streets into smart streets with Pavegen tiles, it’ll create enough energy to heat selected city pavements, where the homeless usually reside.
To get attention for this cause, we will time advertisements during winter months, when the UK feels it most. Melted snow will reveal alarming statistics.
